Elsmere Eagles Take on Elmira College Hockey Team

For the past 21 years, Elmira Hockey Team Coach Tim Ceglarski has challenged the local Special Olympics Team (Elsmere Eagles of Steuben, Chemung, Tioga BOCES) to an annual competition. This year the home team found a secret weapon in Special Olympics athlete, right wing Shawn Grover, 18. Grover made repeated goals against the Elmira College Hockey Team, that eventually helped to clinch the title for the Eagles.
The Elsmere Eagles won a silver medal at the Special Olympics New York Genesee Region hockey tournament at St. John Fisher in Rochester in January. They advanced to the State Games in Syracuse on February 12th. In their division the Elsmere Eagles took a gold medal in the state games competition.
Bouille Electric of Elmira, the team sponsor was represented by Steve Singerhoff who was there to cheer on the team. The Elsmere Eagles beat the Elmira College Team much to the pleasure of sponsors, teachers, parents and fans alike.
The Elsmere Eagles are adding bowling and basketball to their sports line-up this year. They have worked hard and deserve the best!
