On Thursday, September 23, 2004, Special Olympics Genesee Region held its Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Rochester. The event recognized volunteers, community businesses, and organizations who have made outstanding contributions to Special Olympics. Highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Cyr Memorial Outstanding Athlete awards to the year’s 35 outstanding athletes. Numerous prizes and a getaway to the October 17 Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins game, courtesy of Bock Tours were raffled. Title sponsor of the event is Health Now. Emcee of the event was Associate News Director, Don Alhart of WOKR-TV 13. Entertainment was provided by the Eastridge High School Winter Guard Team led by Lauren Lincoln. During the evening a special Vermont Teddy Bear Ski Bear was auctioned off by Carol Ritter, former Democrat and Chronicle writer. The event will included a special presentation to state Senator James Alesi, for his efforts in obtaining a State Legislative Grant to support the Special Olympics Athletes’ program.
