Corvette Club of Rochester, Platinum Sponsor
On December 17, officers from the Rochester Corvette Club presented Laurie Johnston with a check for Special Olympics New York-Genesee Region. Special Olympics Genesee Region was chosen as the Charity of Choice for 2005. The club fundraising efforts were outstanding as the check totaled $5,594.25.making the Corvette Club a Platinum Sponsor of the 2006 sports program. Fundraising events that occurred year round were a Summer Auction and Cabin Party; a year-long raffle, monthly 50/50 raffles at the member’s meetings and special events, two bake sales, and the annual Corvette Car Show at Eastview Mall. The Mall Corvette Event showcases corvettes from all years, all models and styles.
The Rochester Corvette Club is a social club, which brings people together who have the same common bond, a Corvette. The local Corvette Club is one of the largest clubs in the United States with 400+ members. As one of the oldest clubs, they will celebrate their 47th year in 2006. Club members showcase over 300 Corvettes. Many members own more than one! They are a civic minded group and try to give back to the community in various ways. They hope they can play a small part in helping a different local charity each year. Their primary qualification in selecting a charity is that they demonstrate a need. Special Olympics was fortunate to be the chosen for 2005. Members were thanked for their contributions of time, effort and donations throughout 2005. Members of the Charity Committee who supported the project were Linda Caraglio, Joyce Jelfo, Marie Davias and Karen Coast. Special Olympics welcomes the Corvette Club as a Platinum Sponsor.

Amica Insurance, Bronze Sponsor
Jim Murphy is no stranger to Special Olympics. He has volunteered with his Pittsford Rotary Club and Interact High school group at track and field at RIT a number of years. Inspired by his high school volunteers and their dedication to Special Olympics, Jim decided to approach his company for sponsorship. Amica Insurance first came on board as a team sponsor of the Sponsor An Athlete Campaign. Next Jim felt it was time to fill out a grant for sports sponsorship and he was delighted when $1500 was awarded to Special Olympics. Jim and Pittsford Rotary Club President, Patrick Mallery have expanded their contacts with Special Olympics by bringing the interact group to volunteer at sports events and at the annual gala as auction volunteers. Amica Insurance stepped up to the plate again at the annual Winter Party as a contributing sponsor. Jim engaged his fellow Pittsford Rotarians to join him at the event. Special Olympics welcomes Amica Insurance, Jim and his Pittsford Rotarians!
