Eric and Naim will represent TEAM USA at the Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai, China, October 2 - 11. Eric will be competing in aquatics and Naim in bowling. 30 Special Olympics athletes will compete from New York State in the first Special Olympics World Games competition to be held in Asia.

Join us for Spikes' Hike 2007, a walk to benefit the 3200+ Special Olympics Athletes of the Genesee Region. Spikes' Hike is unique in offering a 50/50 Not-for-Profit revenue share with other 501c3 organizations, or groups associated with schools or churches. Walkers will receive breakfast and lunch, and if they raise at least $50, a Special Olympics T-Shirt!

On March 31, 2007 the 34th annual Hornell Knights of Columbus Sports Night honored Julie Nichols, a Genesee Region athlete. Also honored at this dinner were, Gerry Coony a former boxer, Steve Garvey a former Baseball star, Ryan Lindell from the
Buffalo Bills and former pro wrestler Lanny Poffo.
Julie is a 20 year old Avoca student who attends the GST BOCES program at Alfred University. Julie began her career as a Special Olympics athlete while in Elementary School. She began by competing in Track and Field events. Julie continued her career by competing in Cross Country skiing and soccer events. Most recently, Julie completed in the State Summer Games in Albany last June. She received Gold and a Silver medal in bowling events. Julie is a hard working student who is currently employed by AVI food service at Alfred University. Her job duties include preparing and filling the salad bar at Powell dining hall during the busy lunch shift.
