Regional Summer Season Wrap-up

Wow- State Games is here and then just like that the Summer Season will be done. A quick thank you to everyone…all of you… for running seventeen events in just three short months! We truly have an outstanding group of volunteers that make this all possible for our fantastic athletes.

So what’s next?  Summer Games

Well over 300 of us are on our way to Binghamton this week for the Summer State Games. We will form part of a contingent of 2,200 athletes and coaches. It promises to be a great few days of competition and we would like to wish everybody both a great experience and safe travels. Once State Games have concluded we will turn our attention to the fall season. We have a great schedule in place that will kick off with the Summer Sports Conference on August 9th (make a note!) followed by ten events concluding in Rochester with the fall state games. Busy, busy, busy!!!

Have great summer everybody!!!

Get Your Red Wings Tickets

It’s baseball season!

Red Wings tickets have been donated to Special Olympics.  We have tickets to the 12:05 game on Monday, August 11th.  If you have athletes and coaches that would like to attend please contact Julie Bell at 585-586-7400 x108 or via email at jbell@nyso.org.

A friendly reminder….

For any coaches that may need to use a Special Olympics vehicle, like the green van to transport your athletes (aka Big Green) we will need an updated photocopy of your driver’s license for our records and insurance purposes.  This needs to be done in advance of the next time you use Big Green and the copy will remain on file in our office.  We need to log each use to keep on file, too.  Please coordinate usage ahead of time, because we currently have the seats out to transport equipment to events.  Thanks!

Pedal 4 Medals

A Cycling Vacation to benefit Special Olympics

We would like to personally invite you to participate in the 2008 Pedal 4 Medals, 300 mile Cycling Vacation.  The June 25th – 29th 2008 Pedal for Medals Ride is a cyclist’s dream comes true!  Where else can anyone who loves to bicycle find the opportunity to spend four glorious days riding his or her bike through some of the most beautiful country anywhere? Start in the beautiful Adirondacks and pedal down to the Finger Lakes. On top of that, riders enjoy three great meals and numerous beverage and snack rest stops each day, excellent hotel accommodations each night, bag transfers between hotels and full SAG support throughout the ride.  Riders of all ability levels will enjoy the ride…it’s not a race!  This year we are offering a Metric Century if you are unable to commit to a 4 day ride.  We have some great prizes, incentives and awards this year, including a new Iron Horse Bike valued at $750 and a full Pedal 4 Medals cycling apparel kit.  That’s right; everyone that registers for this ride will have at least one chance to ride home on a new bike!

For event details contact Melissa Wiggins at 585-586-7400 x105.
